It won’t be wrong to say that some high-end colleges and institution in the wake to provide qualitative education to the athlete students, they have started to infuse sports scholarship  in their admission process.

In a country where still guardians love to see their boys and girls to be a doctor and engineer, despite so much happening in the field of sports, is quite irony.

These guardians need to know that despite giving a qualitative education, their kids also need to indulge in a physical sport which not only makes them physically strong but also teaches them real-life situation and teamwork, which can be quite resourceful for them across their life.

In India, there are a few colleges and institutions which showcase immense care for the overall growth of students by indulging them in sports as well as giving them major scholarships at the time of admission which help them to continue their career ahead with high colors.

To highlight some better-facilitated intuitions or colleges present in the country, we have come up with an elaborate list which includes colleges which provide sports scholarship.

1. SRM University, Tamil Nadu

The major South Indian University of SRM has been quite active in recognizing the real talents from the sports grounds. The University offers a scholarship to the students from across engineering, technology, management, science, and humanities, etc.

In the year 2014, the university awarded 108 students with sports scholarships. With an annual fund of seven crores allocated for students’ scholarships, the University comes at the first place to execute sports cult among its students.  In the presence of sports experts coming from inside and outside, selections process are undertaken across various sports including Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Hockey, Badminton, Tennis, Table Tennis, and Chess.

2. Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Netaji Subhas National Institute Of Sports (NSNIS)

Yet another institute that offers sports scholarship with an objective to bolster sports in the country. Located in Patiala, the institute houses high-end facilities for sports training along with qualitative academic programs. The Institute offers a scholarship to the students at different levels including State, National, college or University and special ones for women. With a strict selection process, they train students from all walks of life.

3. TNEA and Anna University

With an objective of recognizing talented athlete students, TNEA and Anna University offer and teaches around 51 different sporting disciplines to their students. To attain the same, TNEA has increased the number of seats reserved for the sports quota from 100 to 500 in 2014. In the allocation, 12 seats are reserved for ANNA University and the rest 488 retains with Anna University of Technologies, Govt aided and private engineering colleges.

4.DU, New Delhi

Now as the college admissions season starts so is the DU Season. At a time when students from across the nation influx to the national capital to get into this reputed university, the sports quota can aid to the candidates who have any say in sports.

Following the same admission procedures as other colleges, The colleges of DU also has two types of admission processes viz. a direct one in which gates are open for the ones who have represented the nations at certain competitions and the second one by sports trials. In order to crack the second one, candidates have to clear 2 out of 3 tests which includes strength, endurance, and speed.

5. Laxmibai National College of Physical Education

Thiruvananthapuram based Laxmibai National College of Physical Education is another college which provides scholarship to the student having a sports background. The college provides 10% to the students who have won a medal at national level competitions either in individual or team event. The scholarship ranges in between 3000 to 4000 per year.
