Afcon, African Cup of Nations will be aired on DAZN, according to the new agreement signed between the global sports OTT platform and African Football Confederation.

Afcon is hosted this year in Egypt. DAZN will stream the tournament’s matches across Austria, Germany and non-exclusively in Switzerland.

The announcement of CAF’s latest rights deal comes after signing a contract with Mediapro, the Spanish Sports rights and production company, to provide the video assistant referee (VAR) system at the 2019 Afcon.

With the usage of VAR, this is the first time technology is foraying into African Cup of Nations.

Mediapro has also been tasked with providing a comprehensive training program, using stimulator and offline use, prior to application of VAR during the matches.

MediaPro has already been supplying VAR technology for the top soccer leagues in Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Chile and the United Arab Emirates, and recently secured a new five year deal for Greece’s Super League.
