Arunachal Pradesh gets its first and only sports academy affliated to all India Carrom federation and Tennikoit federation of India, when MLA Nyamar Karbak inaugurated the Siang-Carrom and Tennikoit academy in Doimukh on Saturday.
Tennikoit, a game which is played on a tennis-style court, in which the two opponents players separated by the net try to catch and hurled ring in to the opponent’s court.
The game is mainly popular in South Africa, Germany, Brazil and the subcontinent nations of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
While speaking on the occasion, Karbak said the state government has given sports “a precise direction after unveiling its sports policy.”
Adding more on the job reservation of meritorious sportspersons in every department, he suggested the sportspersons to catch the opportunity by performing great in their desired sports.
SP (Security) Tojo Karga also attended the function. He advised the youths to use their talent and skills in productive activities.
Present on the occasion were, among others, Siang Carrom and Tennikoit Academy chairman Dikbi Gangkak and officials of the Arunachal Olympic Association and the Sports Authority of Arunachal.
