Ireland captain Paul Stirling praised the Indian cricket team for consistently delivering high-quality performances on the field. While expressing his team’s need to build on moments of good cricket, he acknowledged the challenge of finishing games successfully. The third T20I of the series, scheduled between India and Ireland, unfortunately, got called off due to rain, resulting in India securing a 2-0 series win.

Stirling emphasized his team’s determination to work hard in preparation for the T20 World Cup scheduled for 2024 in the USA and Caribbean islands. He mentioned that although there were several positives to take from their performances, the focus should be on capitalizing on those positives and translating them into victories.

Reflecting on the series, Stirling appreciated the opportunity to compete against India and play in front of enthusiastic crowds. He expressed his desire to have seen some fresh faces in action during the series finale. However, despite the challenges, Stirling emphasized his team’s commitment to working hard in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup, which marks a journey of around 10 months.

In the second T20I, Ireland showcased their prowess with the ball by restricting India to the 17th over. However, the late assault by Rinku Singh and Shivam Dube in the final two overs changed the game‘s momentum in India’s favor. Ireland’s batting struggled as they attempted to mount a comeback, with experienced opener Andy Balbirnie scoring a valuable 72 runs. Yet, India’s bowlers, including Ravi Bishnoi, Prasidh Krishna, and Jasprit Bumrah, picked up crucial wickets to secure victory for India.

The series might not have gone as Ireland had hoped, but Stirling’s words reflect a determination to learn, improve, and compete at the highest level as they look ahead to the T20 World Cup.
