At a recent event, Anushka Sharma candidly discussed the challenges of parenthood, sharing her thoughts on instilling values like gratitude in her children and the pressures of being a perfect parent. She revealed that a positive change in her lifestyle came about thanks to her daughter, Vamika. Anushka explained that Vamika follows an early routine, eating dinner around 5:30 PM and going to bed early. This prompted Anushka to adopt the same habit, which resulted in numerous health benefits for her, including improved sleep, feeling more refreshed in the morning, and experiencing less brain fog. What started as a practical choice to align with her daughter’s schedule has now become a family-wide routine.

Anushka also touched on the significance of passing down family traditions, particularly through food. She and her husband, Virat Kohli, are committed to cooking meals inspired by the dishes their mothers used to prepare, ensuring their children, Vamika and their son Akaay, grow up with these cherished recipes. Anushka noted that while she sometimes seeks her mother’s guidance for these recipes, she views it as a valuable way to connect her children with their heritage.

Anushka said that when she had her dinner early and, as a result, slept early, she saw a lot of health benefits that led to a better lifestyle. “I slept better, I felt fresher in the morning, and [had] less brain fog. I think that is one thing that I do, and it works for me. I didn’t read it somewhere and started following it. It came out of convenience that let’s just eat together and shut the kitchen. Now, it is something that the entire family does.”

At the event, Anushka reflected on the importance of making food that she and Virat’s parents made for Vamika and Akaay. She stated, “We had this discussion at home that if we don’t make the food our moms made at home, then we won’t be passing these recipes on to our kids. So, sometimes I cook, and sometimes my husband cooks, and we really try to replicate the way our mothers did. I cheat a little by calling my mom to ask for recipes, but it’s so important. It’s like you’re passing on something valuable to your children.”

Anushka and Virat, who were married in December 2017, are proud parents to two children. They welcomed their daughter, Vamika, in January 2021, and their son, Akaay, was born in February 2024.
