Guwahati will be the venue for the third edition of Khelo India program . The multi-discipline sporting event will commence in January of next year.

The chief minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal assured the state machinery and various administrative sports bodies will supervise the event. He said the Khelo India program would be successfully organized in Guwahati.

The first two edition of the game is a part of the revamped national program for the development of sports was hosted by Delhi and Pune in 2018 and 2019 respectively.

Both indigenous and internationally popular sports will be featured in the sporting event. There would be games like archery, hockey, badminton, boxing, hockey, khokho, shooting, swimming, table tennis and many more.

The chief minister said the best of facilities will be provided the athletes will be gathered in Guwahati to take part in the game. It is speculated almost nine thousand players will be converging   in Guwahati from all across the country. Khelo India is the brand child of Prime minister, Narendra Modi which was conceived to provide a platform for the promising athletes to showcase their talents.

Sonowal also said that all the replacement and repair work all major infrastructures should be taken up immediately and all the venues should be made innovativly ready for the youth games. He also asked the concerned functionary for the constitution of a high-level body to look after different aspects of organizing the games. He also asked the Sports department to give special care in transportation, immediate medical care and accommodation for the players and other support staff.
