Sambalpur city will get three health and fitness centers by the end of October.

The fitness clubs are being formed by Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC) at PHED ground in Ainthapali, Burla stadium, and Subash field in Hirakud. The Sarva Shiksha Abhijan (SSA) has been committed the task of accomplishing the projects.

Assistant engineer of SSA, Sambalpur, Suryakanta Biswal said construction of buildings for the three health and fitness clubs is nearly finished. While paintwork at Burla stadium is over, it will begin at the halting centers shortly. Afterward, fitness equipment will be fixed, he said.

Each center is being formed over an area of 40 feet X 40 feet at the cost of `70 lakh. Equipment that includes the treadmill, shoulder press machine, chest press machine, lat pull down the machine, leg press, and abdominal crunch machines will be fixed at the fitness centers that will have separate sections for females and males.

The fitness centers will be handed over to the Sports Department after the finish of the work and the office of region sports officer, Sambalpur will administer and operate the centers.
