Tata Motors switches to SUV Harrier from Nexon as the official partner of IPL

The apex body of Indian Cricket, Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI)  in partnership with Tata Motors have announced the newly Launched SUV-Harrier as the official  partner for the upcoming 12th edition of the Indian Premier League IPL 2019.

Last year, clubbing with IPL for the first time, Tata Motors has promoted its SUV, TATA Nexon.

“The two major features that were infused by Tata Motors last year was the Super Striker which was a major inspiration for all the players and more importantly the Fan Catch where if a ball was struck and caught by the spectators, three of them were awarded Rs 1 lakh and luckiest of them walked away with Nexon. I am sure Tata Motors on basis of their one-year experience have felt compelled to continue the association and have come up with a new model Tata Harrier,” said Amitabh Choudhary, acting honorary secretary, BCCI.

Last year BCCI had signed 16 partners of which four of those brands had been a part of the IPL earlier and the two new partners were Tata Motors and Paytm.

According to Choudhary, “The IPL graduates to a higher level every year and the hallmark of last year’s climbing up were that we had 29 last over finishes which is a raise from 2017’s 20 last over finishes. The TV viewership went up by 15 percent which is a significant. Actual attendance in stadium increased by one lakh. The total viewership last year in the stadiums alone was 18 lakhs.”

“Last year was our first association with IPL and both in terms of business performance of Nexon and relationship with BCCI was extremely satisfying and Nexon has firmly cemented its place as No 2 position in compact SUV category and IPL gave it a real platform and boost last year,” said Vivek Srivatsa, head-marketing, passenger cars, Tata Motors.

Tata Motors will be doing on-ground activities and will be participating in Fan Parks. Along with that, the Tata Motors will be promoting Harrier on digital along with the TVCs.

“This year Harrier is our flagship product and it is with great pride that we will continue our association with IPL. Harrier is a premium product than Nexon,” added Srivatsa.
