“After a memorable win of their opening match towards Australia, our cricket group continues their glorious efficiency with a formidable win towards Afghanistan within the World Cup. Congratulations to the group,” PM Modi posted on X.

Jasprit Bumrah led the Indian bowling attack with an exceptional performance, taking four wickets while conceding only 39 runs on a placid pitch. Hardik Pandya, the all-rounder, also made significant contributions with the ball, securing two wickets in his ten-over spell. Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav also chipped in with a wicket each.

Rohit Sharma’s explosive 131 runs from 84 balls, including a partnership of 156 runs with Ishan Kishan, set the stage for India’s convincing win. Even after the fall of Rohit and Ishan’s wickets, Virat Kohli played a steady yet aggressive innings, scoring 55 runs from 56 balls at a healthy strike rate. He sealed the victory for the Indian team with a boundary, underscoring their dominance in the match.
