Before their T20 Asia Cup match against India and Pakistan, Oman captain Jatinder Singh emphasized playing cricket with fearlessness, emphasizing self-expression and getting ready to face the tough opponents.
He sees games against test-playing countries as important chances to evaluate his team’s preparedness and pinpoint areas in need of development.
Oman Captain Jatinder Singh stated, “The mindset is simple. Go out. Express yourself freely and play fearless cricket without worrying about the result. Engaging with test-playing nations allows us to assess our level of preparation for such tournaments and identify areas for improvement. For us, it’s a fantastic opportunity to play against these sides just to see if we are on the right path.”
Oman, India, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates are all in group A. In contrast, group B includes Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka.
Oman’s penultimate match before the Super Four is against India on September 19, and their Asia Cup opener is against Pakistan on Friday.
The top two teams from each group advance to the Super 4 round of the event following the group round.
Sufiyan Mehmood of Oman emphasized how unpredictable T20 cricket is and how one over may significantly change the course of a match. To compete hard against elite nations, he urged affiliate teams to overcome their anxiety and use the competition as a platform to display their skills.
“The T-20 format is a small format, and a single over or inning can change the match. In the past, we have noticed that the associate teams have given a tough time to the test-playing nations and even defeated them. We have to make sure we play fearless cricket, and we don’t have anything to lose. The test format is the only platform where we can showcase our talent, and that will happen only if we play without pressure. We are confident that we will give a tough competition to both teams,” Sufiyan Mehmood told.
India tops Group A following their convincing nine-wicket victory over the UAE on Wednesday, while Afghanistan leads Group B.
