Entering into a sports betting partnership, NHL has teamed up with the MGM Resorts. In A press conference that held in New York city, Commissioner Gary Bettman announced that the NHL league has agreed to do a multi-Year deal with MGM Resorts, which now has become the official gaming and resort destination partner of the NHL.
MGM gets access to the NHL’s intellectual property including team logo and other branding materials as well as advanced game data recorded by the NHL according to the partnership deal.
One of the most fascinating aspects of the league can it introduces player and push tracking information system. The system which has been thoroughly researched by the league now can be expected to see by the next season. With the assistance of the system, the League will provide real-time player tracking data, which will further the sports book to offer “new and innovative interactive fan engagement and betting opportunities.”
There is no official terms are revealed so far however, it was clearly stated that the league has not any say in MGM’s gambling profit outcome as part of the agreement.
Back in July, The NBA has signed a similar deal with MGM Resorts becoming the first major North American pro league to reach such agreement. The deal was worth around $25 M over the three years according to ESPN’s Dareen Rovell.
