Entering into its 7th edition, India’s very own TSD (Time Speed and Distance), JK Tyre Himalayan Drive flagged off in Siliguri amid much fanfare.
The TSD event which will witness a pool of more than 50 teams from across the country taking part in the rally will also see how defending champion Ajgar Ali and Co-driver Mustafa Erode are putting their all effort to lift the title for the third time. “We have come here well prepared and are confident of our chances of going the distance. Well, it might not be so easy as I am saying considering the field, but yes we will give our best and, hopefully, go back with the title,” Ajgar said ahead of the flag off.
Commenting on the race, Sanjay Sharma, Head of JK Motorsport, said: “We are excited about the event. It is India’s only international TSD drive and provides a great opportunity to rallyists to stretch themselves to the limit, besides giving a huge boost to motorsports in the region.”
Nevertheless, this time for the duo defending champions, it won’t be an easy task as they would face a stiff challenge from Gagan Sethi and Rah Kumar Mundra. After clinging a great victory in the JK Tyre Hornbill Rally, Gagan will leave no stone unturned to keep continue his winning spree.
Manoj Verma, the Inspector General of Police, Darjeeling Range officially flagged off the JK Tyre Himalayan Drive 7 which also happens to be India’s maiden international TSD (time, speed, distance) rally.Marking for the first time in the history of the rally, the opening stage began after sunset.
As a part of their Journey, all drivers will travel all the way to Murti via forest laden roads, river embankments and surrounded by the lush green tea garden.The flagging of the much anticipated event was flagged off amid much pomp and show and huge crowd cheering up the participants.
