Jamshedpur FC head coach Khalid Jamil expressed his delight after his team secured a stunning 3-1 victory against FC Goa, one of the most in-form teams in the Indian Super League (ISL). The match, held at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur, saw the Men of Steel deliver a commanding performance that extended their unbeaten home streak to six games while ending FC Goa’s impressive 12-match unbeaten run. According to an ISL official statement, Khalid Jamil credited the victory to his players’ hard work and team spirit, which helped them claim all three crucial points and move up to second place in the league standings.

The home side got off to a blistering start, scoring twice in the first half to put FC Goa on the back foot. Serbian defender Lazar Cirkovic opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a spectacular strike from the edge of the box that soared into the top right corner, leaving FC Goa’s goalkeeper Hrithik Tiwari with no chance. Just three minutes later, Mohammed Sanan unleashed a powerful shot from close range, which Tiwari failed to collect cleanly. The loose ball fell perfectly for Spanish forward Javier Siverio, who calmly slotted it into the net to double Jamshedpur FC’s lead.

Despite FC Goa struggling to keep up with the intensity, they managed to pull one goal back just before halftime. Ayush Chhetri found the net for the visitors, reducing the deficit and giving FC Goa hope for a comeback. However, Jamshedpur FC maintained control in the second half and continued to push forward. In the 68th minute, Siverio scored his second goal of the night with a well-placed header, securing his third brace in the ISL and restoring his team’s two-goal cushion. This clinical finish sealed the victory for Jamshedpur FC, ensuring they walked away with all three points.

Following the match, Khalid Jamil heaped praise on his players for their relentless work ethic and determination. Speaking at the post-match press conference, he emphasized the importance of maintaining their fighting spirit in upcoming fixtures. “Yes, everybody worked very hard. Because of the players, we got this result. They must continue in the same spirit,” Khalid Jamil stated.

Looking ahead, Jamshedpur FC now shifts focus to their next game, an away fixture against Bengaluru FC on February 9. Khalid Jamil acknowledged that his team must keep up the momentum and remain focused on their title challenge. “Yes, team spirit was good. We must continue like this. We are going to play an away game. So, we must keep it up, and we must think about the next game,” he said. With this result, Jamshedpur FC moved up to second place in the ISL standings, just nine points behind league leaders Mohun Bagan SG, with a game in hand.

The Jamshedpur FC fans turned up in huge numbers at The Furnace, creating an electric atmosphere that played a crucial role in motivating the team. Jamil expressed his gratitude towards the supporters, recognizing their impact on the players’ performance. “Yes, we are very thankful to them. They are supporting all the players,” he stated. “Players are also working very hard because of the fans. They (fans) are supporting the team. That is also one of the reasons we are getting the result,” he concluded.

With this statement victory, Jamshedpur FC has firmly established themselves as a serious title contender in the ISL, and their upcoming fixtures will be critical in determining their championship ambitions.
