Inter Milan, the Italian football major has announced to form its own first women’s football team by acquiring the naming rights to the ASD Femminile Inter Milano soccer club.
The club and the present playing women’s football players take the name Takes the name of Inter Milano official name in the wake of a deal sanctioned by the new elected Italian Football Association(FIGC) president Gabriele Gravina.
Besides, Inter Milan has also attained rights to all the players in the ASD Femminile Inter Milano First-team and Primavera Squads.
“This is a vital step for the club and one that strengthens an increasingly complete sporting area which has clear plans and a concrete vision for the future. The valuable experience we have gained through our youth academy will be crucial in ensuring the success of the women’s team project.” said Inter chief executive Alessandro Antonello. He added more “The goal is to develop a link between the various youth categories and the new first-team and Primavera squads, so that we are able to aim for the highest sporting objectives in the near future, as the prestige of the Inter brand demands.”
The step of restructuring the Serie A Club has been taken in the wake of disappointing performance of the men’s side which remained devoid of any major title since 2011. Retaining a 100% winning record in their opening two games of the season, Inter’s Women’s side currently stands at the top rank of Serie B.
