India defeated Nepal 4-0 at the Golden Jubilee Stadium on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, securing their place atop Group B of the SAFF U19 Championship. In each half, the home team scored two goals.

Two goals were scored by Rohen Singh Chaphamayum (28′, 76′), and one apiece by Danny Meitei (84′) and Omang Dodum (29′), a local lad. With this victory, India finished Group B with a goal differential of 12 and a perfect six points from two games. With three points from their two games, Nepal comes in second.

On Friday, May 16, the hosts will play the Maldives, the runners-up in Group A, at 7.30 p.m. IST. On the same day, the semi-final matchup between Bangladesh, the champions of Group A, and Nepal is scheduled for 3.30 p.m. IST.

Despite the fact that both teams had already advanced to the round of four, the game got off to a pretty hectic start. It’s possible that neither team was prepared to give up on placing first in the group. On the other hand, India took the lead once the scoring started.

After bouncing off a few heads, a cross from Malemngamba Singh’s left boot landed pleasantly in front of Rohen, who quickly slid it past Nepali goalkeeper Bhakta Bahadur Pariyar in the 28th minute.

After being sent through by Danny a minute later, Omang showed some clever technique by side-footing the ball into the top corner to double the lead.

India began to dominate the contest against Nepal after gaining confidence with a two-goal lead.

Omang, Danny, and Prashan collaborated to make the Nepal defense appear weak, and they got off to a great start after the switch of ends.

They added a third with less than fifteen minutes left in regulation time. From around the penalty spot, Danny cut back low after Prashan Jajo’s ball. Rohen volleyed in the rebound after Pariyar stopped his shot.

After playing a key role in the game, Danny finally got on the scoresheet when Pariyar stopped India captain Singamayum Shami’s long-range attempt. Nevertheless, the playmaker, who had previously scored a hat-trick against Sri Lanka, deftly inserted the rebound.
