The Asia Cup 2023 fixtures and schedule have been announced, and it is an eagerly awaited tournament. Pakistan, the host nation, will face their arch-rivals India in a Group A match in Kandy on September 2. The tournament will commence on August 30, one day earlier than the original plan. Pakistan’s first game will be against Nepal in Multan, the only match scheduled at that venue. Due to a late addition, four games will be hosted by Pakistan, with one in Multan and three in Lahore. Initially, all four matches were supposed to take place at a single venue.

In the group stage, Group A consists of India, Pakistan, and Nepal, while Group B comprises Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. According to the schedule, Pakistan will be labeled as A1 and India as A2, regardless of their position in the group standings. Similarly, Sri Lanka will be B1, and Bangladesh will be B2.

If Nepal and Afghanistan qualify from their respective groups, they will replace the third-placed team in each group. This means that if India or Pakistan finishes third in Group A, they will be replaced by Nepal. Similarly, if Sri Lanka or Bangladesh finishes third in Group B, Afghanistan will take their place.

The final match of the Asia Cup 2023 is scheduled to be held in Colombo on September 17. Prior to that, the Super Four stage will see the top two teams from Group A (Pakistan and India) compete on September 10. If both teams qualify for the Super Four stage, there is a possibility of a rematch between India and Pakistan in Kandy, one week after their initial encounter.

India’s campaign will begin with a crucial game against Pakistan and will be followed by a match against the new entrant Nepal on September 4.

In total, four matches, including three group games and one Super Four match, will be hosted by Pakistan. The remaining nine matches will take place in Sri Lanka. This hybrid model for the 2023 Asia Cup was approved by the Asian Cricket Council.

Cricket fans can look forward to an exciting tournament filled with thrilling matches and intense rivalries.
