On the first day of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi broke several world records, causing Indian cricket’s new phenom to rewrite history. The batting prodigy broke the record for the fastest 150 in one-day cricket history after becoming the youngest player to ever register a List A century. Against Arunachal Pradesh, Suryavanshi appeared poised to surpass the record for the fastest double-ton in white-ball cricket history, but he was bowled for 190 off just 84 balls.

Suryavanshi raced to his first List A century in just 36 balls after arriving at the bat with an innate attacking attitude and hitting boundaries all around the field. With this incredible effort, he is now the second-fastest Indian to reach a List A century, only surpassed by Anmolpreet Singh’s 35-ball performance against Arunachal Pradesh last year. Suryavanshi, however, is the only 14-year-old in the world to have struck a century in a professional one-day competition.

Even while the century was impressive, his acceleration beyond the 100-run threshold was what really cemented his place in cricket history. In an incredible 54 balls, Suryavanshi reached 150 runs as he continued his unrelenting attack. In List A cricket, his score surpassed the previous world mark for the fastest 150, which was held by AB de Villiers (64 balls).

With an astounding 16 fours and 15 soaring sixes at a pace of 226.19, the young player’s innings was a master class in aggressive batting. The Arunachal Pradesh bowlers were clearly discouraged as each stroke was executed with the assurance and accuracy of an experienced professional.

This performance is the most recent in Suryavanshi’s string of 2025 record-breaking accomplishments. He blasted a 32-ball hundred for India A in the Asia Cup Rising Stars event earlier this year, and he made headlines as the youngest-ever IPL debutant and centurion for the Rajasthan Royals. His distinct combination of explosive hitting and early talent has already led to comparisons to famous players.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 14-year-old cricketer who is not only shattering records but also redefining what is expected of a young player, will surely be the center of attention as the Vijay Hazare Trophy goes on. The cricket community is excited to see how many more milestones this extraordinary talent will reach since his journey has only just begun.
