Suruchi Inder Singh maintained her outstanding season-long form by winning the T3 10m Pistol Women’s final and qualifying for the National Selection Trials 3 & 4 (Rifle & Pistol) for Group “A” athletes, which were conducted at the Trishul Shooting Range in Dehradun.

Samrat Rana defeated Saurabh Chaudhary to win the 10 m Air Pistol Men’s T3 final, while Navy marksman Niraj Kumar won the 50m 3 Positions Men event in T4 to complete the double.

Rahi Sarnobat placed third with a score of 223.1, while Suruchi finished with a score of 245.6, 1.1 points higher than Manu Bhaker, who scored 244.5 to take second place in a star-studded final. Pranjali Prashant Dhumal and Esha Singh. Sakshi Anil Suryavanshi, Priya Muralidhar, and Simranpreet Kaur Brar were in fourth and eighth place, respectively.

With a final score of 585, four points higher than Esha’s 581, Suruchi was likewise far ahead of the competition in the qualification round. The top eight were completed by Rahi (580), Manu (578-20x), Priya (578-17x), Pranjali (576), Sakshi (574-18x), and Simranpreet (574-15x).

In the first final of the day, Samrat Rana leaped to first place with a 10.5 in the final shot ahead of Saurabh who could only manage a 9.6. In the end, Samrat ended with a score of 241.7 while Saurabh took second place with a score of 241.5. Aditya Malra finished third with a score of 217.8.

Samrat, Rajan Tomar, and Saurabh all shot 582 but placed second, third, and fourth based on inner 10s, whereas Navy’s Aakash Bharadwaj had previously finished first in qualification with a score of 584. Following shots of 581 apiece from Kamaljeet, Aditya Malra, and Amanpreet Singh, places 5-7 were also determined on inside 10s. Out of the four shooters that fired a total of 580, Vikash Kumar had the most inner 10s and finished last in the finals.

In the 50m 3P Men’s final, Niraj Kumar won back-to-back trials with a clinical performance. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, who achieved another podium finish, was two shots behind the Navy man’s 463. Bronze medallist Swapnil Suresh Kusale of the Paris Olympics ended outside the podium in fourth place with a score of 438.4, while World Championship medallist Akhil Sheoran placed third with a score of 448.8. The top eight was completed by Goldi Gurjar (426.4), Nikhil Tanwar (415.3), Babu Singh Panwar (404.7), and Hemant Bhicher (403.1).

Niraj shot 592-32x, while Aishwary had a stellar 595-35x, finishing first in qualifying. With a score of 591-34x, Nikhil Tanwar came in third, followed by Swapnil (590-34x) and Akhil (589-32x). Hemant (587-29x), Babu Singh (588-30x), and Goldi Gurjar (588-31x) rounded out the top eight.

The 10m pistol shooters will return on Monday for T4 qualifying, which will be followed by the finals, marking the end of the trials.
