Quest Diagnostics, a top company in diagnostic information services, has launched Quest AI Companion, a new chat feature driven by AI that allows people to talk to their healthcare practitioner about their lab test results from Quest.
All adult users of the company’s secure, free patient mobile app and portal MyQuest can now use Quest AI Companion to ask questions about their test results and get personalised, easy-to-understand answers right away, without leaving the MyQuest solution, which is HIPAA-compliant (meaning it meets the standards for protecting patient health information).
“Patients often tell us they want help simplifying and understanding their test results and what the results communicate about their health,” stated Nicole Antonson, vice president of digital solutions and interoperability, Quest Diagnostics. “For more than 50 years, Quest has been a trusted provider of laboratory results. Now, Quest AI Companion builds on this history and empowers patients to analyse their results and spot trends they can discuss with their healthcare provider for smarter and simpler testing that illuminates a path to better health.”
AI Companion works on the secure MyQuest platform. They don’t have to enter their test results into a public AI tool. Also, users can ask the tool to explain test names and medical terms in their results reports, as well as what lab numbers signify, such as high, low, or within a reference range. Patients can also ask the AI companion to help them come up with questions to ask their healthcare professional, which gives them the ability to have more informed interactions with their doctors.
AI technologies are becoming more common in healthcare, but new surveys show that most people don’t use GenAI apps to look at their own health data. Quest asked people about their thoughts about AI, and privacy and data protection, as well as accuracy and reliability, were among the worries they raised.
“People want to understand their lab data, but not everyone feels comfortable uploading their health data to public AI platforms. Quest AI Companion empowers people to access the benefits of gen AI from a healthcare services provider they already know and trust to manage their most personal lab information,” stated Yuri Fesko, M.D., senior vice president and chief medical officer, Quest Diagnostics.
Quest AI Companion is based on Google’s Gemini family of models and is the outcome of a strategic partnership with Google Cloud that began in March 2025. Quest uses Google Cloud’s advanced AI technology to make data management easier and make customers’ experiences better through this partnership. The two sides vow to keep working together to help patients and providers through new ideas.
People who want to use Quest AI Companion can now do so through their MyQuest account. Patients can also make appointments, see test results, and pay bills using MyQuest. Visit MyQuest. QuestDiagnostics.com for additional details.
Quest AI Companion is a chat function that lets people talk to their healthcare physician about their lab test results from Quest and figure out what they mean. People who use it must be at least 18 years old. Quest AI Companion is not a replacement for seeing a doctor or getting expert medical advice. Patients should keep talking to their doctor about their test findings and any symptoms they may be having. The Quest AI Companion is intended for learning and should not be used to find out if someone has a sickness or other health problem. Don’t use this system to start, stop, or change treatment unless your doctor says so.
