Sports goods exports from China were USD 14.9 billion in the first half of 2025, up 1.56% from the previous year, according to China Customs. With exports of USD 2.78 billion and USD 698 million, respectively, representing growth rates of 19.63% and 12.75 percent, fitness equipment and treadmills were two of the best-performing categories. These numbers highlight the thriving sports manufacturing industry in China as well as the rising demand for smart fitness solutions worldwide.

Intelligent fitness items were the main attraction during the 138th session’s Sports, Travel, and Recreation items area, underscoring the expanding convergence of wellness, design, and technology. This innovation wave coincides with the 15th National Games of China, which will take place in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area starting on November 9, 2025. The first Games to be co-hosted by several regions, the Fair’s display of state-of-the-art sporting goods shows a common goal of developing China’s sports sector.

A seasoned Shanxi exhibitor showcased a cutting-edge treadmill that seamlessly combined running, Wi-Fi, social engagement, and Hi-Fi audio to provide a seamless fitness experience. A professional indoor rowing machine that replicates the sense of outdoor rowing with accuracy, high fat-burning efficiency, and exact motion data was another noteworthy feature that attracted a lot of interest from consumers abroad.

Exhibitors emphasized how digital ecosystems are changing contemporary fitness experiences in addition to smart hardware advancements. To facilitate interactive, data-driven workouts that fit easily into customers’ everyday routines, one business revealed a self-developed app that connects to smart gadgets like steppers, jump ropes, and dumbbells.

Innovation also permeated the design and production of products; one exhibitor displayed movable kettlebell sets with patented quick-change mechanisms for exact customization and longevity, which were popular in both Europe and the US. A competition-grade kettlebell with a single-piece cast for maximum balance and minimal deviation that met elite athletic requirements was another noteworthy item.

Throughout the show, sustainability and craftsmanship were also prominent. Manufacturers used friction welding, which is frequently used in the high-speed rail and automotive industries, to increase durability, and they displayed fitness equipment made of steel and wood that combined performance with a sophisticated, design-forward aesthetic.

The Canton Fair serves as another example of how advancements in intelligent fitness are paving the way for a more intelligent, environmentally friendly, and dynamic future for the global sports sector as the Greater Bay Area gets ready to host China’s biggest athletic event.
